About Us

Oahe Habitat was organized and became an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International in 1995.

Since then, we have completed homes in 1997, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2005, 2006, and 2008.

The house we were constructing at 1500 East Park Street has been completed!!

Many thanks to the many churches and organizations that provided volunteers, food and beverages! 

Thank you to everyone who came and worked on location or contributed to the success of our build in any way!

We are currently working to raise the money needed to build again next year--and are looking for people who would like to help us raise funds by contributing their time and talents in various ways. 

Whether it be building or decorating a birdhouse, serving on our fundraising or publicity committee, writing a newsletter, organizing an event,  preparing food for an event, taking pictures for us to put on our website, or helping us staff a table at a craft show--we would love to have your help!

The Habitat 500 Bike Ride was a big success! Over $8,000 was raised by the bike riders representing Oahe Habitat for Humanity! Many thanks to the bike riders: Reverend Howard Grinager, Paul Forney, Carol and Joel Gengler, and Julie Linn!  

And also many thanks to the First United Methodist Church and Lutheran Memorial Church as well as the many individuals, organizations, and businesses that donated on behalf of the bike riders! We couldn't do it without you!!

What We Do

In its most basic sense, the mission of Oahe Habitat is to provide affordable, decent housing in the Pierre-Fort Pierre area.

Another important function is to bring the community together to work on a project with the simple goal of helping a deserving family realize the dream of home ownership.
